Moira Lo Bianco facilitates deep listening experiences grounded in sound, helping the body and the mind to auto-regulate and restore balance.
Moira’s work addresses stress and its detrimental impact on humans’ health and wellness; she holds space by facilitating therapeutic experiences that incorporate Sound Therapy, Vipassana Meditation also known as Insight or Mindfulness Meditation — and Yoga Nidra, a threefold methodology that activates the parasympathetic nervous system, the branch of the central nervous system that specifically calms the body through the parasympathetic response.
Moira’s approach explores listening as an integral practice that validates both sound and silence, engaging body and mind alike. She eases clients into a place of stillness where they connect mindfully with the breath and then the body through the triadic Sound-Mind-Nidra approach, leading to relaxed states of consciousness and deep meditation.
As one client has described it, Moira’s approach creates an experience of un layering. This kind of sensation, or state,is induced by the de-activation of the brain’s Beta frequency, which focuses our attention on external reality. The Sound Mind-Nidra approach helps clients to tune into brainwave frequencies that promote auto-regulation and balance restoration. These include Alpha frequency, associated with light meditation and a relaxed state of mind; Theta frequency, related to a deep state of meditation, creativity, and tranquility; Alpha-Theta border, considered optimal for healing; and Gamma frequency, where the brain consumes energy at a very low (or even zero) rate.
Therapeutic sounds foster the body’s inherent vibration through what is known as ‘sympathetic resonance’, a form of physical entrainment achieved by projecting instruments’ pure vibrational frequencies to imbalanced areas of the body, restoring optimal resonance.
Moira’s holds certifications in Sound Therapy, Vipassana Meditation, and Yoga Nidra. She is also an accomplished musician, bringing her deep understanding of music to her Soundwork. She holds Music degrees from F. Torrefranca Conservatory and TorVergata University of Rome, Italy, as well as from Berklee College of Music, in Boston.
She is currently living in New York City, where she offers adult one-on-one and group sessions, as well as Sound Mind workshops, introducing children to Therapeutic Sounds and Mindfulness Meditation through a series of interactive activities.
